Important Notes on Player Registration

A player's Little League age, for players born on or before August 31, 2005, is determined by his/her age as of April 30, 2017. For players born on or after September 1, 2005, the league age is determined by their age as of August 31, 2017.

  •  Division structures, ages, playing rules and eligibility are determined prior to the season by Little League Baseball, INC and the Lacey Little League Executive Board. Players may sign up for any division their age is permitted to do so, however we DO NOT guarantee final placement.
  • Players signed up for Intermediate, Majors and Senior Minors will take part in player evaluations (tryouts) and be subject to a division draft for team placement. Player selections for these divisions are made by the team managers and can be based on many criteria, not only what is done at tryouts. We do not accept team requests for these age groups. All other age groups are randomly assigned.

Coaching/Managing/Volunteering

You will need to complete the volunteer application, submit to a background check that must be completed at an in-person registration and attend a safety clinic prior to the start of the season.  $5 will be added to your registration fee to cover background checks.

2017 Levels of Play

As in year's past, we will be offering seven different playing divisions (based on age and competitiveness):

T-Ball Division - 4 to 6 year olds who have not played organized baseball, includes those whose first season was in Fall 2016. This division is 100 percent instructional.  Coaches will follow Little League University's T-Ball Program curriculum for the first month and a half of the season. Practices will be held twice per week from mid-March through April.  Teams will transition to one practice and one game per week from May 1 until the end of the season. **New for 2017: New Registration fee of $50 (does not include work bond and league fundraiser). Also - all T-Ball players will be automatically signed up for the Fall 2017 season. This is included in your registration fee.

Junior Minor Division - 6 to 8 year olds who have played at least one Spring season of T-Ball. This division is 100 percent instructional. Coaches will follow the Little League University's "Coach/Machine Pitch" program curriculum. Teams will practice twice per week during the preseason. Beginning in April, teams will practice during the week and play games on Saturdays to provide coaches more instructional times. In May, teams will transition to two games per week.  All games will follow the same format of machine/coach and player pitch.

Senior Minor Division - 8 to 10 year olds who have played at least one season of Junior Minors (though two is highly recommended). This is the first division where scores are kept and all games count. This is "real" baseball. Players pitch every inning. There is minimum play requirements (each player must play one inning on the infield and one in the outfield). All players who sign up for Senior Minors must attend a tryout session in February to assess their skills before being drafted. Teams will practice twice per week during the preseason, then transition to 2-3 games per week during the regular season, culminating in a playoff tournament during early June. Following the season, the best 8 and 9 year olds will be selected to play on a Lacey Little League All-Star teams in highly competitive tournaments. Teams are selected by the division managers.

Majors Division - 9 to 12 year olds who have played at least one season of Senior Minors (though two is highly recommended). This division is highly competitive. All players must attend a tryout in February to assess their skills and also participate in a team draft. There is no "minimum play" requirement other than each player must play at least three innings (they don't have to play infield/outfield). Teams practice twice per week during the preseason, then transition to 2-3 games per week beginning in early April.

Intermediate Division - 11 to 13 year olds who have played at least one season of Majors (though two is highly recommended). This division is highly competitive. All players must attend a tryout in February to assess their skills and also participate in a team draft. Not all players who sign up for Intermediate will make a team. Selection to a team is based on age and ability. There is no "minimum play" requirement other than each player must play at least three innings (they don't have to play infield/outfield). Teams practice twice per week during the preseason, then transition to 2-3 games per week beginning in early April. New for 2017: Lacey Little League has partnered with three local leagues (Berkeley, Beachwood and Toms River East) to form a "District Intermediate League" where teams will travel and play against teams from other leagues.

Junior Division - 12 to 14 year olds who want to make the jump up to the "big field." This division is highly competitive. Based on registration count, players may have to attend a tryout to determine ability and then be subject to a draft. There is no "minimum play" requirement other than each player must play at least three innings. Teams will play in the District 18 Junior League in a division of all local-area teams (Barnegat, Stafford, Berkeley, etc). Start date for the Junior League is TBD (we expect this league to start in the middle of April).

Senior Division - 13 to 16 year olds who want to make the jump up to the "big field." This division is highly competitive. Based on registration count, players may have to attend a tryout to determine ability and then be subject to a draft. There is no "minimum play" requirement other than each player must play at least three innings. Teams will play in the District 18 Senior League in a division of all local-area teams (Barnegat, Stafford, Berkeley, etc). Start date for the Junior League is TBD (we expect this league to start in the middle of April).
